Waking up at 5.30.......sleeping for only 4-5 hours a night.....People call it a jetlag.
I can tell you these days are long....
Had to check out the hostel today.....the place was fully booked and my bed was already given. So I looked for another place to stay. In Sydney that can be quite difficult. Sydney is alive.....beds are wanted....people will pay. So eventually I found another place to stay. Thankgod.
It's been a long, long day
I got some run-down shoes
Ain't got no place to stay
But any old place will be okay
It's been a long, long day
I've been in a little adventure in the middle of the night, last night. We were sound asleep and all of a sudden the firealarm went off......very, very loud. So I jumped out of bed, checked the hallway, saw nothing, but we all left the room in a hurry anyway. " Just go', a roommate said. It is really weird the switch between being asleep and the other second you have to be very, very focused on what you are doing. You want to take everything but you know it is not wise to stay long....you have to make choices. I was sharp enough to jump onto bed again to get the key to the locker and get my mini backpack out (with documents and electronics). I had my phone in my hand but threw it on the bed again. I switched it for an earplug! Not two earplugs, no just one. Bearfooded walked out of the hostel. There you are, in Syndey at 4.30 am in your pj's, on your bear feet, holding one earplug. I mean, what was I thinking. Instead of the phone I took one earplug. Yeah that will get you places :-). The firemen arrived right away, checked the place out and after a little while we could go back in again. Someone probably smoked in their room...
Wednesday I am going by train - the indian pacific- from Sydney to Perth. This is a journey of more then 6000 km, one of the longest on earth. It takes 64 hours. It is very expensive. You can choose between a chair (like on a plane) and a sleeping cabin. The prices are about € 408 and € 1080. So the choice was very difficult. I decided to check the seats out. When I got to the station this man who showed me around was dutch. He was happy to talk to a dutch person. And it turned out he was able to give me a discount! It all went so fast, within 5 minutes I was holding my ticket for the sleeping cabin, three meals a day included (breakfast, two course lunch and three course dinner). Instead of the full price I got a 50% discount! Thankgod, the chair would have been inhuman for that long. So that was a lucky break for me right there. I am looking forward to this trainjourney. 64 Hours of sheer outback right in front of me, my private cabin.....I feel lucky.
Today I think I will go to Bondi beach and from there walk over the cliffs to Coogee beach and then take the bus back to the centre. I am curious if Bondi feels the same. I lived their for a few months when working in hospitality all through the city. ....Back then I never actually been ON the beach. I think I will do that this time :-)
Later!

That was like...9 years ago!! Dikke kus, geniet! De treinreis lijkt me fantastisch!
