The world was my oyster, but a few more days and I will be home again. I am sitting behind the computer in one of the many internetcafes I visited during my traveling to keep you updated on my whereabouts and to keep a commentary for myself. I have to say I am feeling a bit weary at the end of this trip. My head is full with the many, many things I have seen and experienced. It has been an amazingly beautiful journey, but I am actually looking forward to going home. I will never forget this trip, it has been mindblowing, it has been impressive, it has been informative and heaps more. I am thankful I was able to make this trip. I'll take a laughter and a tear and make them all my souvenirs...
I realize that one of the many, many good things about traveling is that you find the words back home very warm and pleasant. Home is where the heart is....Home is where I will continue my photography, I already have a few assignments so that is a good thing :-)) Home is where I will see my family and friends again whom I missed! Home is where my big Bear is within cuttle-reach. Home is also where I will think about going on another trip at the end of this year. And home is where other beautiful things will happen.
Thank you all for leaving comments on my weblog and emailing me (for those who did not wanted to go public :-)). I loved reading those comments and emails a lot and it meant you were commited, interested and curious. Keeping this weblog has been my pleasure! See you all soon!!!
This has been a trip of records
The longest country in the world (Chili), the biggest inland wetland of the world (Pantanal), the driest dessert (Atacama), the most beautiful glacier (Perito Moreno), the most southern town of the world (Ushuaia), the most African town outside Africa (Salvador), the biggest city of South-America (Sao Paulo), the biggest natural forrest within a city (Rio), and a few more which I cannot recall at the moment.
The.....
Coldest place was at the geysers, hottest place was in the hotelroom in Bariloche, the most rain was in Salvador and Paraty, the loudest hostel was in Buenos Aires, the best steaks come from Argentina, the weirdest city was Brasilia, the best kick was the helicopter ride, the most moving wildlife moment was seeing the whales, the best chocolate can be bought in Bariloche, the most impressive city is Rio, the most relaxing stay was at Juliano and Fabiana in Florianopolis, the best caipirinha was at the campfire in the Pantanal, the most caipirinha was on Ilha Grande, the most animals we have seen in the Pantanal, the nicest empanada was on the beach in Punta del Diablo, the nicest people are to be found in Brazil, the most stuck-up people are from Argentina (until they melt down), the best beaches I found all through Brazil, the best busses are in Chili and the fastest ones in Brazil, the best dishes are moqueca and bobo de camarao (Brazilian).
There is a first time for everyting
Piranha fishing and eating, seeing geysers, walking on a glacier, helicopter ride, walking kneedeep through swamps, being pulled by huskey dogs on a sled, dancing the tango, dancing the Forro (Brazilian dance), being walked by dogs all through South America, actually liking to eat shrimps (and heaps of ´em), eating crocodile, crossing border by foot, sleeping in front of the fireplace while listening to the ocean, having a manicure and a pedicure, taking about 8000 pictures in 3.5 months, keeping a weblog.
A suitcase of memories, time after time....
